Northern Lights Book Club<\/h1>\n

What do we do at the club?
\n<\/h2>\n

\t\tWe invite you to read a book that can be a novel<\/strong>, a story <\/strong>or poems<\/strong>. Although reading takes place at home, the heart of our meetings are the literary gatherings.<\/b> In these sessions, members practice various techniques to read more efficiently and quickly. Our gatherings are complemented with cultural activities such as<\/strong> meetings with authors<\/b> who reside in the city of Columbus and\/or surrounding areas.<\/strong> We visit book fairs<\/b> and attend book presentations among others.<\/b>

Children’s program (6 to 14 years old)<\/h4>\n

\t\tSessions for children <\/b>are developed focusing on reading comprehension and artistic expression. Bilingual reading:<\/b> We propose group reading of a short children’s story, preferably bilingual: Spanish-English.<\/b> Comprehension and expression:<\/b> Once the reading is finished, children are encouraged to express their ideas and their own interpretations about the story. Creation of cardboard books:<\/b> Children are invited to express their interpretations in drawings, designing a cover, back cover and original interior pages. We use the Cardboard Books<\/b> technique using recycled items such as cardboard, cardboard, temperas and crayons. At the end of the sessions, each child will be creating their own book!<\/b> \t\t<\/p>\n
