Born in Caracas on September 10, 1956, Alfredo Cedeño early on turned observation into a way of knowing and the written word into a means of bearing witness. For over four decades, his professional career has traversed journalism, photography, and literature—three crafts that, in his work, form part of a single quest: observing the world, revealing what usually passes unnoticed, and shaping it into image or narrative. In the 1980s, photography became one of his primary forms of expression as he developed an intense career as a photojournalist, working freelance for Agence France-Presse in Venezuela and later for London-based international agency Panos Pictures across Venezuela and Puerto Rico. He also served as an editor for the newspaper Últimas Noticias, while contributing as a photojournalist and writer for El Diario de Caracas and El Universal. Cedeño is the author of novels, short story collections, and poetry. He has published Cuentos de Rockola, Coro de Ángeles, Miguel, Ángel Celestino, Yo no sé qué me pasa, De asfalto y campo (Cuentos de las montañas trujillanas), and the poetry collection Juegos de Palabrero. In 2026, he added La voz sin rumbo to his published bibliography.
