Biography & Career

Belén Atienza was born in Badalona, Spain and is an Associate Professor of Spanish and Latin American Literature at Clark University, where she teaches courses on literature and art history. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Philology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a Ph.D. in Romance Languages from Princeton University. Her publications include the essay _El loco en el espejo: locura y melancolía en la España de Lope de Vega_ (New York, Rodopi), the short story book _Saltaparedes_ (Pontevedra: El taller del poeta), and the poetry collections _Mi tierra es una lengua_ (El Salvador: La Chifurnia) and _Tierra de nights inmensas_ (Columbia: Pukiyari). She is a member of the Interiorist Movement and the Miércoletras literary gathering. She is also a translator of authors such as Rhina P. Espaillat and Samir Delgado. Her poetry has been translated into English and Chinese.
