Literary Contest 'Columbus in 2035'
Contest Rules
The Asociación de Escritores de Ohio (AEO) invites you to stimulate your creativity by writing a story, flash fiction, poetry, and/or manga about the future of Columbus.
- Open to any Latino over the age of 14 residing in the United States.
- The theme is life in Columbus, Ohio, in the year 2035.
- Written in Spanish.
- Length:
- The stories or tales can be between 500 and 1000 words.
- The flash fiction pieces or microstories can be between 250 and 500 words.
- Poems can range from half a page to three pages.
- Manga can range from one to five pages.
- Multiple entries can be submitted in each category.
- Alongside the title of the work, a pseudonym will be written to maintain the author’s anonymity.
- Work submissions will be made via email.

- Awards:
- A certificate of recognition will be awarded to the winners.
- The winning works will be displayed on the OWA website.
- The publication of the winning works will be arranged.
- $200 economic incentive per category.
- The judging panel will consist of a member of the ANLE, a professor from OSU, a member of OWA, and a representative from a Hispanic publishing house in the United States. The general public will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorites on the OWA website.
- The announcement of the winners will take place on October 5, 2024, via the OWA website, and the awards ceremony will be held during the Columbus Book Fair in Ohio on October 12, 2024.
- Authors retain rights to their works but authorize AEO to promote them on its website and in future anthologies, and also allow the use of their name and photograph in the promotion of the work.
Singular vote:
All works will be published on this website on the same day they are submitted, and the public will be able to read these works and additionally cast one vote for each genre.
This vote will be accepted electronically between September 5 and October 5.
Thus, there will be an invisible jury that will influence the final decision of the official jury panel.
This will promote not only reading in Spanish but also getting to know all participating writers and their works.
Contest prizes
A CERTIFICATE of recognition will be awarded.
The WINNING works will be showcased on our website.
Publication management will be handled.
$200 ECONOMIC INCENTIVE per category.
